My Trip To Iceland.

My Trip To Iceland.
So, if you didn't know, I was lucky enough to get to go to Iceland earlier this month. A few months ago, I said to my Mum that I really wanted to go to Iceland and spend my 25th birthday in the Blue Lagoon, so we did just that. We booked to go for 3 nights and we stayed at the 'Reykavik Lights' hotel. It was beautiful, the rooms were basic but still beautiful none the less. I'm gutted I didn't take any photos of the hotel or hotel room, but, we were hardly in the room to be fair.

We arrived on Saturday night, it was snowing and it was just beautiful. On Sunday we had booked onto the Golden Circle tour and it was the first time we got to see Iceland in day light. Whilst we were in Iceland, the sun rose at around 11am and set around 4pm, so they don't really get much day light during the Winter at all. The Golden Circle tour was just breathtaking, honestly, I've never seen anything so beautiful in my life - I'm sure the snow made everything even more beautiful too.

The tour starts with a stop in ├×ingvellir National Park. This is also where the gigantic tectonic plates of America and Eurasia have pulled apart and the resulting rift valley is right there before your eyes on the shores of Iceland’s biggest lake. The next stop is at Geysir Hot Springs, the home of the one-and-only original geyser and Iceland’s most iconic natural attraction. Here the ground trembles and steaming hot water spouts spectacularly skywards from the famous Strokkur Geyser every few minutes. Then for a leisurely walk down to Gullfoss Waterfall, which is an awesome sight to behold. Here a powerful glacial river cascades down 32 meters on two levels and into a narrow canyon with a thunderous roar. Honestly, I never knew anything could be so stunning.
On Sunday night, we were on the Northern Lights tour, however, we didn't manage to see them. The weather and sky wasn't on our side which meant we didn't get to see them but you can't have it all.

On Monday, it was my birthday, which meant one thing. The Blue Lagoon. It snowed all day and I mean snowed. It was like a blizzard but seen as the Blue Lagoon it hot, it didn't spoil our fun. It's amazing how something so natural can be so hot. We spent a few hours in the Blue Lagoon, we enjoyed drinking smoothies and face masks whilst in there too. It's definitely worth visiting and I am so glad I got to spend my 25th birthday in this magical place.

Again, on Monday night, the weather wasn't on our side, the Northern Lights tour was cancelled, which meant we had the evening spare, we decided to go our for birthday tea and of course I chose to have Pizza! That was super yummy too.

If you are thinking about going to Iceland - I would! It's honestly beautiful, expensive but beautiful and I cannot wait to go again one day soon and hopefully next time I'll get to see the Northern Lights!
